From the City of Rochester:
Motorist Advisory
Merrill Street to Close to Traffic at Lake Avenue Monday

(Friday, April 8, 2016) – The Monroe County Pure Waters Pump Station Upgrade Project will affect traffic at Merrill Street and Lake Avenue over the coming weeks. Beginning Monday, April 11 and lasting until Friday, April 22, Merrill Street will be closed to traffic entering and exiting Lake Avenue.
Detour signs will be posted.

Construction on the Ridgeway Reconstruction project will be starting again on MARCH 22. This season the ENTIRE length of Ridgeway from Ramona Street (WEST of the RR tracks) to Lake will be ONE WAY EASTBOUND. Please note that if you want to go further west from any streets west of Dewey, you won’t be able to make a left hand turn from Lilly onto Dewey- you’ll have to go east to Dewey, then north or south to Ridge or Driving Park to go west.

The Lower Falls Foundation is organizing another clean-up of Lower Falls Park and the trail this Sunday (3/20) at 2:00 PM. Meet at the Rose Garden- snacks provided!

On Sunday, February 28, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Maplewood’s State Senator, Joe Robach, is sponsoring a FREE electronics recycling event at the Monroe County Ecopark – 10 Avion Drive. In conjunction with Time Warner Cable, Sunnking Electronics, Monroe County and Waste Management, they will be collecting your old televisions, computers monitors, hard drives, laptops, gaming systems and old cell phones. Normally Monroe County’s recycling vendor makes you pay them to accept old TV’s and monitors you can no longer legally put in the trash. This is your chance to dispose of them for free! If you have old or unused electronics, please take advantage of this free event and protect our environment by having these items properly disposed of.

We have TWO opportunities to clean up Maplewood this Saturday:
-Reconnect Rochester’s SNOWDOWN starts at 10:00, with a group at Dewey and Driving Park and one at Dewey and Palm. Since there’s no snow blocking the bus stops, they’ll be picking up litter along Dewey.
-A group is picking up litter in the Lower Falls and trail also. That starts at noon in Maplewood Park, with refreshments.
Give a little bit this weekend!

The problems with Flint, Michigan’s water system have been in the news lately. This Wednesday’s Maplewood Town Hall meeting’s guest speakers are Patrick O’Connor the Director of the City Water Bureau, and David Rowley, Chief of Water Quality Operations. They’ll be talking about how the Water Bureau gets you your water and to answer any questions you might have. 7:00 PM in the Aquinas Cafeteria!
