About The Maplewood Gardening Team |

Ways You Can Help Have an hour or two to spare during the warm months? Come join us! We can always use more volunteers. Gardening experience is not necessary. Perhaps your schedule does not permit a weekly commitment. Volunteer as a back-up, pitching in when members of our team are away. |

Our Accomplishments In the summer of 2006 we planted 23 tree wells with drought resistant perennials along Dewey Avenue, between Driving Park Avenue to Ridge Road. With the assistance of a local Eagle Scout Troup, six durable wooden flower boxes were built and situated near local businesses. To maintain these plants, volunteers hauled more than a dozen one-gallon jugs (filled at home) to a specific location several times a week. This was a fiercely challenging task, yet its success helped us expand. In the spring of 2007, City Horticultural workers helped us plant the median at the northern intersection of Lake and Driving Park Avenues. Despite severity of weather and high volumes of traffic, MGT safely maintained the median -- in the exact manner as the tree wells and wooden flower boxes. It is a welcoming gateway to Maplewood. With the financial assistance of our local NET office, we purchased two concrete planters. And thanks to our partnership with Phat Boys, a local clothing shop, we were able to restore and replant the large raised flower box on the corner of Dewey and Flower City Park. |

Future Plans… Keep your eyes open for the expansion at Dewey and Flower City Park. We are planning on deconstructing the large raised flower box and landscaping the entire plot. We will also be raising funds to purchase more concrete planters |
