The City of Rochester and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) will be offering a free concert in the Northwest as part of the RPO’s Around the Town fall concert series. Guest conductor Paul Shewan will lead Musical Stories: From Star Wars to Scheherazade at the Edgerton R-Center, 41 Backus St., at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16. The Maplewood Gorge Haunted Hayride returns this coming Saturday, October 18! Family rides are from 7 to 9, with a more frightening ride for 18 and over at 9:20.

A new FREE Health Clinic will be opening in Maplewood! Starting Sept. 24, located in St. Luke Tabernacle Community Church, 1261 Dewey Avenue, the walk-in clinic will provide free health care services for adults who lack health insurance.  If you know of neighbors that need health care, pass this along!

RTS is considering eliminating about a quarter of its bus stops in the city, including these in Maplewood: Dewey @ Clay and @ Kislingbury; Driving Park @ Canary,@ Dewey, @ Dove and @Holmes; Lake @ Flower City, @Kodak R&D, @ Owen, and @Winchester.  Email president@maplewood.org  if this affects you or someone you know- there is still a chance to get these some of these stops saved if we can make a case!

While the Maplewood Neighborhood Association will be taking a break from the Historic Home Tour this year, why not visit our friends in the 19th Ward?!

The 19th Ward Community Association is hosting a 19th Ward Home Tour on Saturday, October the 18th, Rain or Shine.  The tickets are $10 in advance, or can be purchased on the day of the event at their Home Tour Headquarters, the beautifully restored St. Monica’s Church at 831 Genesee St.

The two Maplewood gardens on Dewey Ave. will be on a City of Rochester NorthWest Quadrant Garden Tour.  The Tour is on Saturday, August 16th from 1-4 pm- the Flower City Garden (Flower City/Dewey Ave.) and the Maplewood Gateway Garden (Dewey Ave./Driving Pk. front of Family Dollar).

As such, we need your help for special cleanups for both gardens – the Flower City Garden cleanups are going to be Tuesday August 12th 6-7:30 pm. for weeding and 9 am. Saturday Aug. 16th for trash pickup. The Maplewood Gateway Garden cleanup will be Saturday August 9th, at 9 am.

This is our chance to show people from all around the county the best community gardens in the City! Please help the Maplewood Gardening Team spruce up the gardens!  Bring your gardening tools for weeding.

Driving Park Bridge Repair Meeting

The Driving Park Bridge is scheduled for repair early next year, and the City wants your input regarding their plan.  Public meeting is at Aquinas, July 30, 7:00 PM.  Check our event for more information.
