Flower City work camp

The Flower City Work Camp, a group of area churches in its 28th year, is now accepting referrals.  During the Spring recess of 2013 they will reach out, with over 500 youth and over 200 adult supervisors, to designated City locations and work for three days doing home repairs at no cost to the home owner. They are now accepting referrals due by December 1st. To best qualify the applicants must be of low to moderate income and have a owner occupied single family home.

FCWC is looking for a variety of inside and outside work to keep them busy for three days. They cannot do roof or gutter repairs that are over one story and have around $600 to spend on each house. Referrals will start to be evaluated in December, homes chosen in January/February and work to be completed in April of 2013. All that’s needed is a name, address and phone number, and the referred individual(s) will be contacted.  The scope of the program will be explained, and if appropriate, a referral will be submitted.

This program helps some of our neediest people and really gets results. Last year the FCWC worked on over 60 homes. If you would like more information please contact Councilwoman Carla Palumbo’s office at 428-5982.
